Jan Johansson (1942–2018) was a Swedish silversmith and glass designer who studied at the University of Arts, Crafts & Design (Konstfack) in Stockholm. Johansson began as a designer at AGA in Stockholm and came to Orrefors in 1969, where he designed bowls, vases, candlesticks and sculptures. His work is associated with clean shapes and cut crystal that combines contemporary style with a sense of tradition.
Works by Jan Johansson can be seen at the Linköping Cathedral and Vadstena Abbey. His work is also represented at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Oslo, the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY, and the Museum för Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. Jan Johansson’s barware collection Street, which launched in 2006, is currently available in the Orrefors assortment.
